WHO WE ARE

We are a group of people with interpreting experience from Leipzig. It is our goal to support groups and initiatives that oppose political, social or cultural power structures (see WHOM DO WE SUPPORT). We do this by organizing interpretation and by interpreting ourselves for events, meetings and the like. We also do educational work in the field of interpreting.

We want to raise awareness about the importance of interpreting by being a visible group. We also want to show how language and oppression are connected and that mediators are humans, not machines, to act politically.

Additionally we want to relieve social and political activists, so that they do not have to spend their time and energy on mediating.

We would like to underline that successful interpreting involves certain conditions, otherwise we cannot meet a speaker’s expectations.

We think of ourselves as a collective that is critical towards hierarchies and that acts by consensus.
